Book hunts sent students searching
the school for hidden mystery titles,
while a whole-school book celebration
encouraged everyone to share
recommendations, talk about favourite
authors and reflect on why reading
matters. These activities created a
lively, collaborative atmosphere and
helped students engage with books in
fun, meaningful ways.
Another highlight came from Mr Jones,
who led an ambitious whole-school
challenge: 8A Book in a Day9! Every
teacher read a segment of Roald
Dahl9s The Umbrella Man at the start
of each lesson, so by the end of the
day, the entire story had been shared
across the school. Students loved it
and many chatted afterwards about
Dahl9s humour, twists and memorable
characters. It created a wonderful
shared reading experience reminding
everyone how stories can bring people
together.
What truly made the event special was
the level of participation. Students
threw themselves into every activity,
from dressing up to hunting for clues
to diving into new books. Their
excitement was evident in every
classroom and corridor, and staff were
delighted to see such strong
engagement.
With imaginations sparked and
reading lists refreshed, we9re already
excited for next year9s celebration!
