Making Club History at British Rowing Championships
Saturday brought more nationallevel competition, with Henry and
Carlos returning to race together in
the Open J18 Double Sculls and
Leigh Davies representing the club
in the Open J16 Single Sculls. The
standout result came in the
Women's J18 Eight, where a
composite crew featuring five QPC
athletes, Millie W, Phoebe W, Issy
C, Alice N and Eden M, secured a
place in the A Final and finished
fourth in Great Britain. Reaching an
A Final at the British
Championships is a remarkable
achievement and something very
few junior club rowers ever
experience.
On Sunday, the Women's J15
Coxed Quad of Ife O, Alyssa D,
Eden W and Val BSF, coxed by
Talia R, delivered a fantastic
performance. After progressing to
Final C, they led much of the race
and missed out on victory by just
0.27 seconds, ultimately placing
14th nationally in a highly
competitive field.
Monday proved to be QPC's
busiest and most decorated day.
The performance of the week came
from Margaux S in the Women's
J14 Single Sculls. After showing
incredible resilience in her semifinal, where she almost capsized
before recovering to finish,
Margaux went on to dominate the B
Final, securing seventh place in
Great Britain. It was an outstanding
achievement from one of the club's
youngest athletes.
There was further success for the
Open J14 Coxed Quad of Will D,
Dylan C, Alex H and Edward N,
QPHS NEWS
coxed by Freya H, who rounded off
their championships by winning
Final D in dominant style. Alyssa D
also produced a strong
performance in the Women's J15
Single Sculls, finishing just outside
the semi-finals before securing a
top-20 national placing.
Across four days and 18 event
entries, QPC athletes demonstrated
determination, resilience and talent
on the national stage. From A Final
appearances and National top 10
finishes to valuable championship
experience for younger crews, this
was a British Championships to
remember and a powerful reminder
of how bright the future of QPC
rowing looks. Congratulations to
every athlete, coach, cox and family
member who played a part in such
a memorable week.
