SHREWSBURY SUCCESS
Five Star Weekend
The Shrewsbury Regatta weekend
proved to be one of the highlights
of the season for Queen's Park
Chester Rowing Club, with strong
performances, multiple finalists and
a remarkable five event wins
across two days of racing on the
River Severn.
Saturday's Shrewsbury Regatta
saw QPC crews competing in the
traditional head-to-head knockout
format against clubs from across
England and Wales. The standout
result came in the Boys' J17
Double Sculls, where Carlos LV
and Henry H raced all the way to
the final, an excellent achievement
at one of the region's most popular
regattas.
There was more success in the
Girls' J17 Double Sculls, with our
crew also reaching the final after a
series of impressive races. In the
Girls' J15 Single Sculls, one of our
athletes progressed to the final,
while crews in the J15 doubles and
J17 singles gained valuable racing
experience against strong
opposition.
If Saturday was impressive,
Sunday's Shrewsbury Sprint
Regatta was even better.
QPC celebrated an outstanding five
event wins, including two all-QPC
finals. In the Boys' J17 Single
Sculls, Carlos and Henry met in the
final after winning through opposite
sides of the draw, with Carlos
taking victory. The Boys' J14
Double Sculls produced another all
-QPC final, with Alex and Will
overcoming Trystan and Dylan
after a fantastic contest between
clubmates.
There was further success for Issy
C, who won the Girls' J17 Single
Sculls, while Margaux and Ava,
raced to victory in the Girls' J14
Double Sculls. The Girls' J15
Coxed Quad also claimed a superb
win, progressing strongly through
both the semi-final and final.
Rounding off a memorable day,
Abigail J won the Girls' J15 Single
Sculls Band 2, taking QPC's tally to
five victories.
With multiple finalists, two all-QPC
finals and five event wins, it was a
hugely successful weekend and
another fantastic showcase of the
talent, determination and strength
throughout QPC Rowing.
