TRAFFORD HEAD
Crews deliver across the board
The Trafford Head of the Bridgewater is a firm
favourite in the early season calendar, run by
Trafford Rowing Club along the historic Bridgewater
Canal. The event offers both long and short course
options, giving rowers of all ages and abilities a
chance to get competitive racing under their belts
during what can be a quiet time of year.
Queen's Park Chester had a busy day on the water
with crews and scullers across multiple categories.
Highlights included our Women's J14 4x+ (short
course) winning their Band 1 event outright with a
time of 4:54.7 - a superb result for the crew of
Otillie (cox), Margaux, Ava, Aphrodite and Charlie.
Our Boys' J14 2x had two crews on the water for the
short course event, finishing 2nd (4:45.4) and 3rd
(4:48.0), while our Boys' J14 4x+ (short course)
finished 3rd (4:39.7) - all brilliant achievements! Our
mixed J13 4x+ had their first races and did
tremendously well too.
On the Women's side, our J14 2x short course
entries finished 2nd (4:46.9) and 3rd (4:49.2), and
the Girls' J14 4x+ finished as Band 1 winners.
Overall, a well-rounded day of racing for the club
with some excellent podium finishes from our
younger crews, a real sign of the strength and depth
coming through the club.
DOUBLE GOLD
J17 quads dominate race
The North of England Head of the River
Race is one of the region's most
prestigious events and a true highlight of
the spring calendar.
The race takes place over a challenging
multi-kilometre course and attracts
university and club crews from across
the North alongside our junior
contingent.
For Queen's Park Chester, it is a home
event in spirit and our rowers always
relish the opportunity to race at this
level.
