BASKETBALL SUCCESS
Year 7 claim third place in Chester & District Tournament
Over the Spring Term, Queen9s Park High
School hosted six schools for the Chester
and District Year 7 Basketball Tournament,
and our Year 7 team proudly rose to the
challenge. After weeks of dedicated training
every Tuesday after school, the squad
arrived confident, focused and ready to
compete.
Under the expert guidance of our student
coaches, Murat (Sixth Form) and Tom
(Year 11), the team displayed impressive
development across all areas of the game.
Their leadership not only sharpened the
team9s technical skills but also helped build
a strong sense of teamwork and resilience.
Team QPHS started the tournament
strongly, securing well-earned victories
against Blacon and Abbeygate. Rolien
showed excellent defensive anticipation,
reading the game superbly to break down
attacking plays. Oliver impressed with his
ball-handling under pressure, navigating
tight spaces with control and composure.
Finn delivered standout rebounding
performances, repeatedly winning
possession for the team, while Saman9s
quick transitions sparked several fast-break
opportunities.
In a tightly fought battle against King9s,
Team QPHS fell just short, but not without
demonstrating determination and grit.
Mauro9s accurate passing and Owain9s
confident mid-range shooting kept the game
alive throughout. Against Upton (who would
go on to be the overall winners) our players
pushed themselves to the limit in what
became a true test of fitness. Alfie and
Taghg both showed tireless energy,
contributing crucial defensive stops and
supporting play across the court.
After a day of high-quality competition,
Queen9s Park finished in a very respectable
third place, a fantastic achievement and a
testament to the team9s commitment and
hard work. Well done, Year 7!
