FIRST AID READY
Saving Skills for Life
My favourite part was
meeting Lisa at Eastgate Square.
It was really interesting going
behind the scenes to see how
the shopping centre operates.
Year On Friday 12th June, all Year 8
students took part in an exciting
Future Ready Programme, exploring
how their PSHCE and PE learning
connects to real-life skills and future
careers.
We were delighted to welcome
Cookson First Aid into school, who
delivered engaging, hands-on
workshops focused on essential
lifesaving skills. Students learned
how to respond to common injuries
and emergencies, including how to
perform CPR, when and how
defibrillators are used, and the vital
role they play in saving lives.
The sessions were highly practical,
giving students the chance to build
confidence while developing key
transferable skills such as
communication, teamwork,
leadership and problem solving, all of
which are valuable in a wide range of
careers.
Students also explored future
pathways linked to first aid, from
emergency response roles like
paramedics and EMTs, to careers in
healthcare and public safety
including nursing, policing and
firefighting.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our
students to gain essential life skills
while beginning to think about the
many exciting career possibilities
ahead.
