A TASTE OF PARADISE BAY
Year 11 serve up seaside inspired flavours
Our Year 11 Hospitality and
Catering students brought a taste
of coastal street-food energy into
the QPHS kitchen with their
Paradise Bay Food Truck practical
project. Tasked with designing
dishes for a bustling beachside
setting, they explored how local
ingredients can be transformed
into flavour-packed street food
with optional global twists that
made each plate their own.
The result was a mouth-watering
collection of starters, mains and
desserts designed to appeal to
two very different audiences:
hungry adult walkers refuelling
after a scenic trail and energetic
teenage surfers looking for
something bold, fresh and fast.
Throughout the practical sessions,
students demonstrated impressive
technical skill, innovation and an
eye for presentation. Starters
ranged from crisp bite-sized
tasters to vibrant bowls layered
with colour and texture. Many
dishes celebrated local produce,
thoughtfully paired with influences
from across the world, including
Asian glazes, Mediterranean
herbs, and Latin American spices.
For the mains, students embraced
the true spirit of street food:
hearty, handheld and bursting with
personality! From loaded
flatbreads and gourmet burgers to
spiced noodle boxes and creative
seafood options, each dish aimed
to balance convenience with big
flavour, exactly what Paradise
Bay9s imagined customers would
expect while enjoying ocean
views.
Rounding off their menus,
students produced sweet treats
that captured the relaxed, beach
day atmosphere, featuring fresh
fruits, homemade sauces, and
inventive twists on classic
favourites.
Our Year 11 chefs demonstrated
excellent preparation, knife skills,
cooking techniques and presentation.
I am incredibly proud of the
high level of skill they
showed in the kitchen.
Well done!
