The mural, which will be
created in the coming months, will
reflect the ecosystems being protected
and stand as a lasting reminder of the
school9s commitment to sustainability.
Adding to this, plans are in place for a
large-scale kingfisher sculpture by local
artist Russell Kirk, further bringing the
project to life across the school site.
This project is a brilliant example of how
real-world environmental challenges can
be brought into school life, combining
practical solutions, creativity and
collaboration to inspire our students and
make a meaningful difference to our
local community.
SUDS & SEEDLINGS
Planting for a Greener Future
Following the installation of our new Sustainable Urban
Drainage System (SuDS), five Year 8 students recently
worked with Mel Hughes from Forest City Projects to help
plant a variety of water-loving species in the new SuDS
planters around the school.
As they got their hands dirty, students learned how the
planters help manage rainwater naturally, reduce pollution
and support local wildlife. They also discovered more about
the different plants being used and why they were chosen.
The students will now help monitor the planters to see
which species thrive in their new environment.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with Forest
City Projects and giving more students the opportunity to be
involved in this exciting sustainability project.
