WELCOME
As we move through the
spring term and look ahead
to the brighter months to
come, this edition of our
newsletter captures the
energy, ambition and
creativity that define
Queen9s Park High School
at this time of year. It has
been a season full of opportunity, with
performers stepping into the spotlight, thinkers
asking bold questions and students showing,
time and again, just what can be achieved when
curiosity meets commitment.
Creative expression has taken centre stage this
term, from our involvement in the National
Theatre Connections Project 2026 to the
electrifying trio performances from Macbeth for
Years 10 and 11 at Storyhouse. Our production
of Oliver! was a real highlight; a sell‑out success
that showcased talent so impressive it earned an
invitation to perform at the Lord Mayor of
Chester9s Ball in May!
Across the curriculum, academic curiosity has
continued to flourish. British Science Week
encouraged students to ask 8What9s your
question?9, while our Year 9 mathematicians
impressed in the UKMT Maths Challenge. In
Religious Studies, students thought big as they
explored Christian controversies, debating faith,
ethics and the relevance of Jesus in the modern
world. Language workshops reminded us that
multilingualism truly is a superpower, while
politics came alive with an inspiring visit from
MP Aphra Brandreth, reinforcing the importance
of student voice.
Preparing students for life beyond the classroom
remains a key focus for us. Careers week, mock
interviews, CV writing, university visits to
Cambridge, Sixth Form Taster Day and the
launch of our Future Ready Programme at
Chester Zoo have all helped students to think
ambitiously about their next steps. Practical
experiences have been just as valuable, from
magistrates9 mock trials and first aid training to
unique work‑related learning with the police,
HMS Eaglet and Shrewsbury Prison.
We have also taken pride in celebrating success,
through Homework Heroes, Gold Star awards
and afternoon tea with the Headteacher, while
our sporting teams brought home medals across
basketball, netball, dodgeball and rowing.
As we support our Year 11 and 13 students in the
final weeks before their exams, we wish them
every success. Their determination, alongside the
wide range of achievements shared here, makes
us incredibly proud to lead such a remarkable
school community.

TAKING THE STAGE!
National Theatre Success
We9re thrilled to announce that
Queen9s Park High School has
once again been selected to
take part in the National
Theatre: Connections project,
following the success of our
latest bid.
This prestigious national
programme brings together a
select group of schools and
youth theatre companies from
across the UK with each invited
to stage one of ten specially
commissioned new plays.
This year, our Year 10 GCSE
Drama students have been
chosen to perform Wildfire Road
by acclaimed playwright Eve
Leigh.
