A TALE OF 2 VISITS
From Lorrach to Chester
Opportunities like this make such
a difference, helping students see
the value of learning a language
beyond the classroom.

It was really fun
meeting the person I’d
been writing to. It made
it all feel real and helped
my confidence
speaking French.
We were delighted to welcome not
one, but two groups of students
from FES Lörrach in Germany this
half term as part of Chester9s Twin
City Initiative.
The visits provided a fantastic
opportunity for students to develop
new friendships, learn about
different cultures and practise their
language skills in a fun and relaxed
environment.
With support from our Year 9 and
Year 10 students, our German
visitors quickly felt at home. Each
visit began with lively icebreaker
activities before students teamed
up to take part in a range of
challenges designed to encourage
conversation, teamwork and new
connections.
There was plenty of friendly
competition throughout the day,

including dodgeball and volleyball,
as well as a treasure hunt around
the school where teams solved
clues, collected hidden letters and
cracked anagrams in the race to
win some tasty treats.
The visits finished with an
international-themed quiz, giving
everyone the chance to share their
knowledge and learn more about
different countries and cultures.
Most importantly, the exchange
helped students build confidence,
make new friendships and discover
how much they have in common
despite living in different countries.
We would like to thank all of the
students who took part and helped
make both visits such a success.
We hope the friendships and
memories created during these
exchange days will last long after
the final
