Our Library, Our Space
At the start of our school year, one of
the key goals we had was to ensure
that our library was being better
utilised by students across all year
groups. Through a combination of
effort by our fantastic school librarian
and our group tutors, our first year of
this initiative has been a real success.
Since September, every KS3 tutor
group has visited the library every
other week, giving students regular
time to read and explore. Some
brought books from home, while
others enjoyed discovering something
new from our shelves. In total, 121
students have borrowed an
impressive 370 books this year,
including one enthusiastic Year 7
reader who checked out an incredible
21 books!
We also introduced a student librarian
programme, with six brilliant Year 10
students volunteering their time each
week to help our librarian organise the
library After quickly getting the library
well organised, they focused on
making it even more inviting. One of
their ideas was to create a student-led
recommendation area, where
students can browse a hand-picked
selection of books from a range of
genres. It9s been a great way for
students to share their favourite reads
and encourage others to try
something new. Thanks to their
efforts, the Year 10 team has helped
make the library an even more
welcoming and friendly space.
As we look ahead to September,
we9re excited to build on this progress
with even more ideas to come.
