QUEEN9S PARK GAMBIT
A Checkmate Performance!
Following the overwhelming success of last year9s event, this
year9s 8Chester Schools Together9 Chess Tournament once again
proved to be a standout moment in the school calendar. Held on
Friday 13th February at Bishop9s Blue Coat C of E High School,
the competition saw our Year 8 students demonstrate impressive
strategic skill alongside admirable composure throughout the day.
Competing against five other schools, the QPHS team,
accompanied by Mr Evans, represented the school with focus,
determination and exemplary sportsmanship from start to finish.
A particular highlight was the outstanding performance of Riley B,
who secured a well-earned runner-up position after a series of
strong matches. Riley progressed to the semi-finals, where he
was narrowly defeated by the competitor who wet on to win the
tournament. His achievement is a testament to his talent, skill,
and commitment to the game.
Congratulations to The Queen9s Park Gambit Team: Olly M,
Herbie M, Riley B, and Reuben T, for their hard work, resilience,
and the positive, respectful manner in which they conducted
themselves throughout the competition. Their success continues
to strengthen QPHS9s growing reputation for strategic excellence,
both inside and beyond the classroom. Well done boys!
I was incredibly proud of the focus,
sportsmanship and resilience shown by every
member of our team. They represented QPHS
superbly and should be very proud of
their achievements.
