CALCULATIONS & CELEBRATIONS!
Mathematicians take on the UKMT Challenge
Earlier this term 30 of our top
performing Year 9 mathematicians
took part in the UK Intermediate
Maths Challenge, a national
competition organised by the UK
Maths Trust (UKMT). Designed to
stretch young thinkers, the
challenge encourages
mathematical reasoning, precision
of thought and fluent problemsolving.
On 28th January, our students
joined more than 650,000 students
from across the UK and beyond as
they tackled the renowned 60
minute challenge. For several of
our competitors, this wasn9t their
first taste of UKMT success, some
had previously taken part in the
Junior Challenge last year and
were eager to step up to the next
level. Once completed, answer
sheets were sent off to UKMT for
official marking.
We are incredibly proud of all our
students who took part. A special
congratulations goes to our top
scorers: Dylan C, Olivia J, Eleanor
S and Alexis G, who achieved the
highest marks in their year, each
earning an impressive Silver
Certificate.
We9re also delighted to celebrate
our Bronze Certificate winners: Eva
U, Ricky M, Rumen, Olivia H,
Margaux, Ben M, Emily C and Elliot
J, a fantastic achievement for every
one of them. A huge well done as
well to all students who proudly
represented the school in this
year9s competition.
We are now looking ahead to our
next competition at the end of April.
when our younger students in
Years 7 and 8 will take on the
Junior Mathematical Challenge.
Good Luck to all involved!
