ATHLETICS
Flying High
A big congratulations to Freddie
in Year 7. Not only is he a
standout player on the
basketball court, but he9s also
soaring to new heights in
gymnastics! Alongside being a
valued member of the school
basketball team, Freddie has
been selected for the British
Gymnastics DMT (Double Mini
Trampoline) Junior Programme
- a fantastic achievement that
reflects his hard work and
commitment.
One of his favourite moves is
the Back In Full - a challenging
double backflip with a twist.
We9re really proud of Freddie
and look forward to seeing how
he continues to grow in both
sports.
Year 8
Athletes give it their all on the track and field
A massive well done to our Year 7
and Year 8 teams who put on a
fantastic display of determination,
energy, and team spirit at the
Chester and District Indoor Athletics
Competition in January.
This popular event provides a
fantastic opportunity for our younger
students to showcase their athletic
talents in a competitive high school
setting.
The event was held locally, at
Chester Catholic High School.
Taking on a range of track and field
events including speed bounce,
vertical jump and the thrilling 8-lap
paarlauf, the boys pushed
themselves to the limit,
demonstrating their resilience,
competitiveness, and a real hunger
to perform.
Speed bounce for all those new to
the sport is where the participant
jumps two-footed from side to side
over a 200mm foam wedge as many
times as possible in the allocated
time limit 3 a real test of speed,
agility, co-ordination and stamina!
Paarlauf translates to 8pair run9 and
is a special form of continuous relay
race where two athletes run in turns.
Special mentions go to Joseph H
and Elliot for their powerful jumps
and impressive speed bounce, and
to Mason W and Elliot JR for their
relentless endurance on the track as
they raced to victory in the 8 lap
paarlauf.
Meanwhile the girls certainly did not
disappoint as Hattie, Olivia, Lulu and
Heidi powered through to win the 4 x
2 lap relay, while Olivia J and Lulu B
showed great determination also
winning their 2 lap race!
We are so proud of all our athletes
who gave it their all and represented
Queen9s Park with pride.
A huge shout-out to all our students
who competed for their enthusiasm
and commitment - well done! We
look forward to seeing these athletes
in action again when they take on
the outdoor competition in the
summer term.
Year 7
The standard was set high as our
athletes ran, jumped and
competed to the best of their
ability with successes across
both the girls and boys teams.
