YEAR OF THE SNAKE
A vibrant celebration of language, art and tradition
To celebrate the Chinese New
Year and welcome the Year of the
Snake, Mrs Ng organised a special
Chinese Festive Day on 28th
January. The event took place
during break and lunch, offering
both staff and students a chance
to experience different aspects of
Chinese culture.
The celebration featured a variety
of stalls where students could get
involved in hands-on activities. At
the Chinese calligraphy station,
students tried writing traditional
characters with brushes, while
others learned the delicate art of
Chinese paper cutting, creating
some beautiful designs. For those
looking for a memorable
keepsake, the name badgemaking stall was a big hit, where
students had a personalised
badge crafted for them featuring
their name in Chinese characters.
Students also had the chance to
dive into the Chinese language,
learning how people greet each
other during the festive period.
They got to try out saying
traditional New Year greetings in
both Mandarin and Cantonese,
making the celebration even more
fun and interactive!
To enhance the cultural
experience, we had visitors
dressed in traditional Chinese
costumes adding a festive touch
and giving everyone a closer look
at Chinese cultural traditions.
Overall, the event was a wonderful
opportunity for students to learn,
engage and appreciate Chinese
culture in a fun and interactive
way. Thank you to Mrs Ng for
organizing such a meaningful
celebration, and we look forward to
more events like this in the future.
Happy Chinese New Year, and
may the Year of the Snake bring
good fortune to all!
