We must also give a special mention to choreographer
Jess Mann and Creative Learning Practitioner from
Chester Storyhouse. Jess delivered professional high
quality creative arts workshops to our students each week
on the run up to the show. Her background in the
performing arts is very broad and brought not only her skill
set in dance to our production but also a broader
understanding and experience of musical theatre.
The cast themselves were all incredibly dedicated, willingly
giving up their lunchtimes, after-school hours, and, in the
final weeks, even their weekends to rehearse. While many
of them weren9t familiar with the original film at the start,
that soon changed after 45 students had the fantastic
opportunity to watch the touring production at the Regent9s
Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent back in November - giving them
a real sense of what the show was meant to be like. Minus
the pottery scene (which thankfully was not included in the
school edition), our cast managed to create an exceptional
version of the production for which we are all very proud.
Aside from the brilliant entertainment, our production brings
different members of our school community together and
as always, it was brilliant to see students in younger years
making friends and being mentored by those in older
years. The contribution the production makes to the culture
of Queen9s Park is substantial and is always so keenly
anticipated by all of our stakeholders, including our feeder
primary schools!
We9re now looking forward to see what the show will be in
2026…watch this space!
