A day of literary fun
Wow - what a way to celebrate World
Book Day and bring books to life at
QPHS! On Thursday 6th March, we
pulled out all the stops to inspire a love of
reading across the school, with lots of
exciting activities designed to engage
students and highlight the power of
books.
One of the highlights of the day was our
8Guess Who9 challenge, where Sixth
Form students and staff dressed as their
favourite book characters - and what a
line-up we had! From The Lion That
Came to Tea and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
to Gru and the Minions, Aslan and the
White Witch, and even Dennis the
Menace & Bananaman - the creativity
was off the charts!
But the real show-stealers? A group or
rather 8a large bunch9 of mathematicians
dressed as Bananas in Pyjamas marching down the stairs in perfect
formation to the 1967 theme song,
adding an extra dose of fun to the day.
Beyond the costumes, the school was
buzzing with interactive activities to
spark a love of reading.
Students took part in a treasure hunt for
over 100 hidden books, got a behind-the
-scenes look at how books are made
through BBC9s Inside the Factory
hosted by Paddy McGuiness, and
explored careers linked to books as part
of National Careers Week.
