The Magistrates Mock Trial Competition was a great
opportunity to experience the inner workings of a
courtroom. Even though we didn’t win, we all had a great
time preparing and competing. Many of us are eager to
return next year, and I highly recommend the club for any
Year 8 or 9 student interested in law.
Lydia S, Year 10 student
After weeks of preparation, our students
stepped into action, assuming their key
courtroom roles including Usher, Legal
Aid, Magistrate, Witness, and both
Prosecution and Defence Lawyers to
construct legal arguments to present
their case. With only one professional
magistrate overseeing proceedings, the
students showcased their ability to run a
courtroom independently.
While they didn9t take home first prize
this year, their performances
demonstrated impressive skills in
questioning, legal argumentation, and
delivering compelling opening and
closing statements.
Mrs Ward was extremely proud of how
our students conducted themselves
throughout the day, representing
Queen9s Park with confidence and
professionalism.
This was our second year participating
in the competition and another great
experience for our students, as they
threw themselves into the world of law.
