CHRISTIAN CONTROVERSIES
Students Debate Faith, Science and Ethics
On 11th March, Year 10 GCSE
Religious Studies and Year 12
Ethics and Philosophy students
had the opportunity to attend the
Christian Controversies
Conference 2025 at Chester
Cathedral. The event brought
together schools from across the
region to engage with complex
and thought-provoking issues
within Christianity and explore how
faith interacts with some of today's
biggest moral debates.
The key note speech delivered by
Michael Harvey was titled "Why
the overlap of science and faith is
vital for human flourishing". In his
talk, he challenged the longstanding view that science and
religion must exist separately.
Instead, he advocated for a more
integrated understanding,
encouraging students to consider
how both can contribute
meaningfully to human progress
and wellbeing.
