ROWING EVENTS
Chester Long Distance Sculls
The 5km stretch along the River Dee from Eccleston
to Chester is a rite of passage for our senior rowers
competing in the Chester Long Distance Sculls. This
event demands a smart race plan. Pacing is
everything, with consistency the key to success over
such a challenging distance.
Our unique partnership with the Rowing
Club has enabled us to send groups of Year 7
students to the Boathouse for intensive Learn
to Row courses supported by funding from the
Duke of Westminster and his Foundation. It
was fantastic to see the enthusiasm and
natural flair of this first group on the river.
Mr Yeoman, Assistant Headteacher
Rowing 5km is no easy feat, and all our crews
delivered outstanding performances, achieving
personal bests and building on their training goals.
Congratulations to our winners:
• Issy, Eden, Alice, Millie W (WJ17 4x-)
• Jack and Henry (J17 2x)
Runcorn Autumn Head
This year, all our senior rowers took on the challenge
of competing in singles at the Runcorn Autumn
Head. Rowing solo is the ultimate test of focus and
resilience out on the water as there9s no one to offer
encouragement, so it9s all down to mindset and
determination.
We were thrilled to see Hayden, Leigh, Henry,
Achilles, Carlos, Sasha, Phoebe, Millie, Eden, Alice,
and Issy rise to the occasion and give it their all. A
special congratulations goes to Millie W, who claimed
victory in her race. An outstanding achievement!
