SAFE HANDS
Strong Skills
We9re in very safe hands with Safina in the
water! We9re incredibly proud of our Year 12
student, who took part in a brilliant opportunity
offered through the Chester Schools Together
Partnership over the October half term.
Safina joined five other students from Blacon,
Christleton and Upton High Schools to complete
the Royal Life Saving Society9s National Pool
Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), the UK9s leading
lifeguard award. Not only is the NPLQ
internationally recognised, but it also carries 8
UCAS Tariff points, making it a brilliant addition
to any CV or university application.
FITNESS FUN!
Brio brings the beat!
September9s National Fitness Week got off to an exciting
start for our Year 9 girls, who took part in a Brio dynamic
dance class during their PE lesson. Thanks to Daniela
and Cheryl from Brio Leisure at Chester Northgate Arena,
the students enjoyed a lively taster session filled with
upbeat music, energetic moves, and plenty of fun.
The session encouraged everyone to get moving.
Students focused hard as they learned some tricky
choreography, felt the rhythm, and discovered a new and
exciting way to stay active. It was a brilliant opportunity for
the girls to try something different in PE, combining fitness
with dance in a way that was both challenging and
enjoyable.
The event was a real hit, with students and staff praising
the positive atmosphere and enthusiasm throughout the
class. The girls, although cautious at first, loved stepping
out of their comfort zones to embrace this new and
engaging activity.
A huge thank you to Daniela and Cheryl for bringing the
energy, creating a buzz for dance and giving our students
a fantastic introduction to Brio9s dance fitness sessions.
They helped make National Fitness Week at QPHS one to
remember.
We look forward to more fitness fun in the future!
The group took on a tough five-day course
involving timed swims, deep-water dives and
lifting casualties, as well as practising poolrescue techniques, first aid and CPR. They also
completed a written lifeguard theory test before
earning their qualification.
The fully funded programme, hosted at
Christleton Sports Centre, brings students from
across Chester together for exciting learning
experiences beyond the classroom and Safina
embraced every moment with enthusiasm and
determination.
Well done, Safina! This is a fantastic
achievement.
