WE WILL REMEMBER
QPHS come together to honour the past
This November, Queen9s Park High
School marked Remembrance Day with a
real sense of togetherness. While
remembrance has always been an
important part of school life, this year felt
particularly unified, with students and staff
from every area of the school contributing
in their own way.
In the days leading up to the 11th,
preparations took place across several
departments:
In Food Technology, students baked red
and purple-themed biscuits and cupcakes
to raise money for the Poppy Appeal.
In English, students used war poetry,
specifically Dulce et Decorum Est by
Wilfred Owen and Ballad of a Hero by
Kae Tempest to explore their thoughts
and feelings about remembrance.
Year 9 History students spent time
studying the First World War, but it was
learning about the former QPHS students
named on the school memorial that had
the greatest impact. Realising that these
were local young people who never
returned home brought a meaningful
connection to their learning.
