MATHS IN ACTION
Shaping Tomorrow9s Teachers
In November, we were thrilled to
welcome sixteen PGCE Maths
students from the University of
Chester to QPHS for their annual
visit. These trainee teachers are
preparing for careers in education,
and their time with us was all about
sharing knowledge and inspiring
future mathematicians!
Our Year 10 and Year 11
foundation GCSE students worked
in small groups with the visitors,
tackling key topics such as
trigonometry and Pythagoras9
Theorem along with creative, visual
approaches to make these complex
concepts easier to grasp. The
sessions were highly interactive and
engaging, giving our students the
chance to strengthen their
understanding through hands-on
activities and discussion. At the
same time, the trainee teachers
gained invaluable classroom
experience, learning how to adapt
their teaching to different learning
styles and build confidence in
delivering lessons.
After the lessons, the PGCE
students joined Mrs BlearsChalmers, Maths Curriculum Team
Leader, for a reflection and Q&A
session. It was a fantastic
opportunity to discuss teaching
strategies and celebrate the
success of the day.
We look forward to welcoming the
University of Chester students back
next year for another inspiring
collaboration!
